Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual/Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and Allies
There are many contemporary variations on the more traditional designation of LGBT/GLBT, in choosing LGBTQIA, we simply reflecting that broadening of inclusion and the understanding of the fluid nature of sexual orientation and gender identity.
It is also for this reason that we have chosen to simply use cmuOUT Alumni Network for the name of the group. We are all part of the Carnegie Mellon University community, with a focus on Alumni. We also realize that in belonging to an open group such as this, we are "out" in our affinity for this interest group, whatever form that affinity takes.
